Mark DeSimone, Trombone
Mark DeSimone is an active trombonist, composer and arranger in the San Francisco Bay Area. He has collaborated with songwriters as an arranger and director from across the country. He was awarded Honorable Mention in the 2011 ASCAP Foundation Young Jazz Composer Awards. Mark has a master of arts in composition from San Jose State and a bachelor of music in trombone from California State University, Northridge.
Mark's influences come from every corner of the music world, and include Tower Of Power, Jamiroquai, Shostakovich, Esquivel, Fred Sturm, Dave Holland, Bach, Aphex Twin, and Squarepusher. His aim in music is to avoid the well-trodden paths of convention while not leaving the audience behind in the process. Mark also performs with Black Sunday Roadshow, Emperor Norton's Jazz Band, The Shady Hill Jazz Trio, and writes with his twin brother as The Brothers Dizz.
